The contraction of skeletal muscle (SM) plays an important role in providing power for the body to participate physical activities. Nevertheless, unaccustomed motions, especially eccentric exercises (EE), might cause changes ultrastructure and mitochondria SM, increasing potential risks injuries. objective this narrative literature review was summarize effects EE on SM ultrastructure. results found that may lead including ambiguity each line band sarcomere, vacuolar degeneration mitochondria, swelling sarcoplasmic reticulum, disordered arrangement myofibrils. At same time, also leads redistribution dynamics, mitochondrial autophagy. This provides additional insight into further research influence injuries SM.
